Huntington National Bank’s Ignite Your Development programs were designed to offer a consistent and impactful development experience based on qualitative research. This research focused on identifying skills gaps through various focus groups, including bank leaders, managers, senior leaders, and Business Resource Group leaders.
The Ignite Your Development programs at Huntington National Bank target a wide audience within the company, encompassing both new colleagues and newly hired or promoted leaders. These programs aim to enhance enterprise development offerings.
Program Details
The Ignite Your Development programs concentrate on transferrable skills and professional growth rather than job-specific tasks. New people leaders undergo a one-year blended program where they develop leadership skills, establish connections with their teams, learn to coach and collaborate, and plan for their team’s and personal development.
New colleagues, who are not people leaders, also participate in a one-year blended learning program. This program focuses on fostering a growth mindset, promoting inclusivity, nurturing relationships, and encouraging innovation. The content includes online courses, videos, worksheets, and virtual instructor-led sessions aimed at collaboration and peer engagement.
A Development Hub and Leader Corner SharePoint site have been created for all colleagues and leaders at Huntington Bank. These sites offer various opportunities for development, such as programs, workshops, and monthly spotlights. Leaders also have access to resources to support their team’s development through Skill Journey programs and Team Huddle materials.
Furthermore, all Huntington people leaders can access numerous development resources on the FranklinCovey Impact Platform to continue their professional growth. A monthly Leader Development newsletter provides recommendations from the Impact Platform.
A badging system in the bank’s learning management system recognizes colleagues and leaders who complete the Ignite Your Development programs, showcasing their achievements to colleagues and managers.
