Supporting Causes That Matter: The Hellenic Society For Equine Welfare
As the business year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on our contributions to the community. At eLearning Industry, we are dedicated to expanding our impact beyond our industry by supporting causes that are important to us and our employees. This year, we are proud to highlight our partnership with the Hellenic Society for Equine Welfare, a Greek animal welfare organization that provides a sanctuary for abused and neglected horses, donkeys, ponies, and mules.
To showcase the vital work of the Hellenic Society for Equine Welfare and to encourage support from our audience, we are sharing our experience visiting the sanctuary, learning about the animals’ stories, and witnessing the transformative impact of this organization.
The Importance Of Equine Welfare Organizations
In Greece, equines are often viewed as working animals rather than companions, leaving them vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The Hellenic Society For Equine Welfare
Founded in 2006, the Hellenic Society for Equine Welfare has been a beacon of hope for hundreds of animals in need. Operating on a former horse-riding school, they provide a safe haven for abused equines, offering them a chance at a happy and comfortable life. With the help of dedicated volunteers and public support, they continue to make a difference in the lives of these animals.
Our Visit
During our visit to the sanctuary, we witnessed firsthand the dedication and care provided to the animals. It was a humbling experience to see the resilience of these equines and the impact of the organization’s work. We left with a renewed commitment to support their cause and raise awareness about the importance of equine welfare.
The Herd
As part of our support for the Hellenic Society for Equine Welfare, we have sponsored five horses, covering their expenses for a year. These horses, including Perseus, Danae, Carmen, Angel, and Hera, have each overcome challenges and found a second chance at life under the care of ESPI.
Perseus and Danae were rescued from poor conditions and are now thriving in the sanctuary. Carmen was saved from a zoo on Kasos Island and is patiently waiting for adoption. Angel, despite her physical challenges, continues to inspire with her resilience. Hera, with the help of ESPI, is receiving the care she needs to live comfortably.
