The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in learning and development (L&D) is generating significant discussion among L&D professionals. But how are your colleagues really leveraging AI in their everyday workflows?
At the upcoming DevLearn Conference & Expo 2024, we took the opportunity to engage with attendees about their AI applications. The results revealed a diverse array of innovative uses:
Streamlining Script & Code Writing
Several participants expressed that AI has become an invaluable ally in coding for their projects. They reported that AI is particularly useful for drafting scripts for learning materials. Although minor adjustments might occasionally be necessary, the overall time savings compared to starting from scratch are significant.
Establishing Learning Hubs or Resource Portals
Many attendees highlighted the use of AI to develop comprehensive learning hubs or resource portals. These platforms simplify the process of information retrieval for learners. One hub was designed to direct users to specific training opportunities, while another offered guidance on effectively utilizing AI tools.
Data Evaluation and Analysis
In the healthcare sector, one participant shared their experimentation with AI for outcome evaluation against public health data. They utilize AI-driven search tools to automate the crucial data collection required by accreditation bodies.
Aiding Research Efforts
Numerous attendees mentioned that AI assists in idea generation and refinement. One participant referred to AI as a “free research assistant,” appreciating its capability to provide quick feedback on new concepts, eliminating the long waiting periods typically associated with traditional research.
Content Creation
Another attendee discussed using AI for content creation within courses, including exploring its application in video production. In a related interview with Diane Elkins, she shared how AI can generate images in just seconds.
Still Assessing AI Adoption
If your organization hasn’t yet embraced AI, you’re certainly not alone. Several attendees admitted that their companies are still waiting for approval to integrate AI into their systems, often citing cybersecurity concerns as a primary obstacle.
